Beata Plawska

Beata Photography

My name is Beata Plawska and I have been living in Hampton Roads, VA for the past 13 years. I am an artist, photographer, and designer, who enjoys the eternal supply of loveliness, beauty and wonders found everywhere in my surroundings.

My company provides photo services for almost any photographic needs in the Hampton Roads area and beyond. I specialize mostly in events like weddings, engagements, family reunions and birthday parties. Naturally and spontaneously, I capture those extraordinary moments of yours in pictures that you will cherish for generations.

For all the events, I use a technique known as "photojournalism" which is a genre that covers the event in “real time” progression and where I am respectful of the natural occurrences and where the photographer seeks to minimize their leadership position in arranging, staging, and prompting subjects.  In other words, I try to capture the honesty and spontaneity of the event without artificially posing or scripting the shots.

As well as event photography, I specialize in both classic and contemporary fine portraits of individuals, couples, children, babies, families, and high school seniors. I also do head shots and comp cards (zed cards) for models. As an accomplished portraitist, I believe my responsibility is to turn an individual into a work of art. Each portrait is created individually, based on the personality, character and style of the person in front of my camera.

I also do fine art portraits on canvas. My interpretation of photographic reality through digital and traditional artistry places my portraiture in a completely new genre, a hybrid of photography and painting. I photograph the subject and then scrupulously overprint the image digitally. I also paint topically for luxuriant texture and allure. The style is similar to the paintings of Old Masters with multiple layers of paint and colors achieving a depth of light. I can make portraits of people, animals, or any subject that is precious to you.
Please view some examples of my work under the "Fine Arts" category.

In addition, I provide photo services including freelance photography services, image restoration, photo manipulation, photo collages, custom DVD presentations with music, coffee table books, yearbooks, church directories etc.

Whatever style you prefer I am a photographer who is dedicated to meeting your needs and providing you with pictures you will always treasure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Wild Pony Photography Workshop

Grayson Highlands Hike to Mount Rogers, VA

When you take a wonderful hike in the Grayson Highlands, you get the feeling you're above tree line.  The rugged and rocky terrain, and wind-swept areas all contribute to that feeling. The hike itself is pleasant and not too tough. In the State Park, you're often treated to the wild ponies free roaming the conservation.
Not only did we photograph the wild ponies but, we also took some time to enjoy and photograph nature in all its fascinating beauty with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. We spent one cold night on the bald peak. Awesome views! Winds were tremendous and stargazing was unbelievable.

Trailhead: The park is on U.S. 58 midway between Independence and Damascus and is reached from I-81 at Exit 45 in Marion; turn south on Route 16 and travel 33 miles to US 58 in the community of Volney. Turn right onto US 58. Travel eight miles to the park's entrance.

From I-77, take Hillsville Exit 14 to U.S. 58. Travel west on U.S. 58, 40 miles to Volney. Turn left to stay on U.S. 58 and go eight miles to the park entrance.

Jamestown Poles Honored with Markers

The Associated Press
©
WILLIAMSBURG
The contribution of the first Polish people to arrive in America with other Jamestown settlers is being recognized with the dedication of a historical marker.
Polish craftsmen arrived in Jamestown in October 1608 aboard the Mary and Margaret. Recruited by the Virginia Company, the Poles contributed to the development of a glass factory and the production of potash, naval stores and wood products.
The Poles' work was so highly valued, they were assigned apprentices so their skills would live on. Capt. John Smith also praised their work ethic in his writings.
